Description

A Unique Piece from Forge de Laguiole’s Art Knifemaking

The Art Knifemaking collection from Forge de Laguiole brings together the rarest and most remarkable pieces created in the workshops of Laguiole. The Floralia model belongs to this exclusive universe, where each folding knife is conceived as a singular creation shaped by design freedom and technical mastery. Intended for collectors and discerning enthusiasts, it expresses balance, precision, and a strong visual identity.

The expertise of the manufacture

In the Forge de Laguiole workshops, each knife is entirely crafted by hand, from the shaping of metal components to the most refined finishing touches. Blades are hot-forged to ensure strength, edge retention, and cutting precision. Springs, liners, and bolsters are carefully adjusted to guarantee smooth mechanics and long-lasting durability. The Floralia model reflects this demanding process through satin finishes and finely executed filework. Rooted in the landscape of the Aubrac, each piece carries a sense of precision and authenticity.

Stéphane Rambaud, master cutler

Stéphane Rambaud, born in Lyon in 1968 and trained at the Nogent cutlery school, embodies this pursuit of excellence. Awarded France’s prestigious “Meilleur Apprenti de France” title in 1987, he joined Forge de Laguiole in 2005 and has since designed exceptional knives, either inspired by personal creativity or developed as bespoke commissions. His work is distinguished by a sculptural approach to the Laguiole knife, where every detail becomes a signature element.

Floralia 12 cm Laguiole folding knife

The Floralia is a 12 cm folding knife featuring an ebony handle, a dense and elegant wood that offers a stable and refined grip. The bee, entirely decorated with floral motifs, echoes the same design language found on the guilloché spring and bolsters. Brass inlays enhance the contrasts and enrich the visual depth of the piece. The stainless-steel liners, including a finely worked one, reinforce the structure while adding a subtle aesthetic dimension. The satin-finished blade completes the composition with understated elegance.

Why choose this Forge de Laguiole knife?

The Floralia addresses a clear intention: to own a high-end Laguiole knife that combines functionality, aesthetics, and collectible value. It stands out through its ebony handle, floral engraving, and refined finishing details that make it instantly recognizable. This model is designed for those seeking a functional object that also carries meaning, rooted in one of France’s most emblematic cutlery traditions. It embodies the meeting point between heritage, contemporary creativity, and technical mastery. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, it offers a clear answer to the question: why choose this Forge de Laguiole knife?
