The Taurus folding knife embodies the highest expression of Forge de Laguiole’s Art Knife Collection. Crafted as a one-of-a-kind piece within our manufactory, this exceptional model combines noble materials, advanced forging techniques and a personal interpretation of the historic Laguiole knife.
Its full black horn handle reveals a timeless elegance, enhanced by a finely twisted spring and a bone liner. Replacing the traditional bee, a hand-sculpted bull’s head pays tribute to the Aubrac plateau and the pastoral heritage that has shaped the identity of Laguiole for generations.
Master knifesmith Stéphane Rambaud graduated from the renowned Nogent Cutlery School and was awarded the Gold Medal for Best Apprentice of France in 1987. Since joining Forge de Laguiole in 2005, he has been creating distinctive knives that push the boundaries of fine cutlery while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original Laguiole.
The Taurus model perfectly illustrates this approach. Every detail has been carefully considered to create a balance between tradition and creativity: the iconic Laguiole silhouette, the understated beauty of the black horn handle and the intricate twisted spring decoration come together in a knife of remarkable character.
This knife is entirely crafted within the Forge de Laguiole manufactory, located in the heart of the village of Laguiole on the Aubrac plateau. Every stage of production is carried out in-house by our master knifesmiths: hot forging of the blade, adjustment of components, assembly, handle shaping, spring decoration, polishing and finishing by hand.
The Twist stainless Damascus steel blade features flowing patterns created through the repeated forging and layering of multiple steels. Combined with polished stainless steel liners, it offers outstanding cutting performance while enhancing the visual identity of this exceptional piece.
The Taurus folding knife is designed for collectors, enthusiasts and anyone seeking an exceptional Laguiole knife. It stands out through its manufacture entirely in Laguiole, its black horn handle, its Twist stainless Damascus steel blade and its sculpted bull’s head replacing the traditional bee. Each knife is handcrafted within the Forge de Laguiole manufactory, making every piece unique. It is both a collector’s item and a testament to French cutlery-making excellence, inspired by the landscapes and heritage of the Aubrac region.
